A celebration of the art and romance of the garden, The Gardeners 90 brings together the tools, flowers and figures of the traditional English garden in Rory Hutton’s distinctive linocut style.
At the centre of the design, two elegantly dressed gardeners flank an orangery, surrounded by garlands of flowers. Beyond, antique watering cans, spades, forks, shears and other garden tools are arranged into decorative motifs alongside potted sunflowers and sheaves of wheat.
The composition takes inspiration from the long relationship between gardening, design and the decorative arts, transforming practical objects of the garden into an intricate pattern for silk. Each element began as an original hand-carved linocut before being brought together in the finished design.
Rendered in fresh green and vivid purple, The Gardeners 90 is designed to be worn as much as admired, and makes a particularly thoughtful gift for gardeners and lovers of historic gardens.
