Inspired by the great gardening women of the twentieth century, Garden Tools Ribbon 86 celebrates the meeting of horticulture and personal style.
Taking its cue from figures including Bunny Mellon, Vita Sackville-West and Lady Rhoda Birley, the design features an assortment of traditional garden tools tied together with bows, transformed through Rory Hutton’s distinctive linocut style.
Printed in a playful combination of pink, golden yellow and blue, its slender proportions make it wonderfully versatile: tied at the neck, worn in the hair, wrapped around the wrist or knotted onto the handle of a favourite bag.
Each motif originated as a hand-carved linocut before being translated onto silk and printed in Italy.
