Inspired by the glamorous female gardeners and tastemakers of the mid-twentieth century, Manor Garden celebrates the elegance of the great country house garden.
At the centre of the design stands a handsome manor house, surrounded by classical statues, neatly clipped bay trees and the tools of the well-dressed gardener. The scarf takes inspiration from figures including Bunny Mellon, Vita Sackville-West and Lady Rhoda Birley, women for whom gardens were as much an expression of personal style as their clothes and interiors.
Originally created as part of my Garden Collection, the design began as a series of hand-carved linocuts before being translated onto silk and made in Italy.
