Inspired by the legendary American gardener and tastemaker Bunny Mellon, Bunny’s Garden 90 celebrates her remarkable eye for beauty, from the gardens of Oak Spring Farm to her famously elegant personal style.
Rachel “Bunny” Mellon approached gardening with the same instinct for proportion, colour and detail that informed every aspect of her life. Known for her exquisitely cultivated gardens and clothes created by couturiers including Hubert de Givenchy, she embodied an effortless meeting of horticulture and style.
The design brings together a collection of garden motifs including bees, watering cans, topiary, sunflowers, beehives and carnations, each originating in Rory Hutton’s hand-carved linocuts. Arranged within an exuberant botanical border, they create a garden in miniature across the silk.
Printed in Italy in an elegant palette of blue and ivory, the design reflects Bunny Mellon’s enduring belief in the beauty of the natural world and the pleasure of a garden carefully made.
