Created in collaboration with the French Porcelain Society
This design is a very special one. Made in honour of the late Dame Rosalind Savill — brilliant historian, much-loved director of the Wallace Collection, and true champion of the decorative arts — this scarf is both a tribute and a celebration.
Working closely with the French Porcelain Society, I’ve woven together many of Rosalind’s favourite things: beloved pieces of Sèvres porcelain from the Wallace Collection and Waddesdon Manor, Madame de Pompadour’s coat of arms, and 73 Sèvres-style floral sprigs — one for every year of her remarkable life. You’ll also find a pair of cocktail glasses (a reference to her talent as a mixologist), and a dove — a nod to her daughter, Isabella Dove.
The colours are drawn from the soft pastels of Sèvres porcelain and chosen to echo the spirit of her joyful and erudite book, Everyday Rococo: Madame de Pompadour and Sèvres Porcelain.
All profits from the sale of this scarf will go to the Attingham Trust to fund the Dame Rosalind Savill Scholarship — supporting future scholars in the field she loved so deeply.
