Inspired by Vita Sackville-West and the celebrated White Garden at Sissinghurst Castle, this silk scarf captures the romantic abundance of one of England’s most famous gardens.
Formal parterres and knot gardens sit at the centre of the design, surrounded by an array of white flowers in bloom. Like Sissinghurst itself, the scarf is as much a study in green as it is in white, celebrating the subtle beauty of Vita’s extraordinary garden.
Woven through the design are two quotations from Vita herself: “Flowers really do intoxicate me” and “Still, no gardener would be a gardener if he did not live in hope”, capturing both her passion for flowers and the optimism at the heart of gardening.
Originally created as part of my Garden Collection, each element was drawn, carved and printed by hand as a linocut before the finished design was translated onto silk and made in Italy.
